LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located on the premises of Columbia Elementary School on 1025 S. Trinity in Fresno, CA. Licensee has changed classrooms from Classroom 18 to Classroom 2 and keeping the same capacity - 22 preschool children. This program will operate on a traditional school year schedule and will have a morning and afternoon session from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Kim Stated children usually have breakfast & lunch in the school cafeteria. AM & PM Snacks are also provided by Fresno Unified School District. The food is prepared on site. Staff will utilize the staff bathroom located by the front office. Ill children will be isolated in the nurses office and isolation room which is in room 18 and use the bathroom located in the nurses office. The classroom was observed to be clean and free of toxins. The cleaning items/supplies will be stored underneath the classroom sink which will remain locked during day-care hours. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. There are plenty of age appropriate items, tables, & chairs to meet the requested capacity.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Kim. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 786 square feet which will accommodate the requested preschool capacity. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. Toys and equipment are age appropriate. There is a total of 5 toilets and 4 sinks/hand washing fixtures available to children. 1 bathroom with one toilet and one sink is inside the classroom. Kim stated that the girls restroom down the hall will be designated for preschool to use as well. A bathroom waiver was submitted and pending approval. Children will be escorted to and from bathroom. There is a water fountain inside the classroom and outdoors but due to Covid they will not be used. Kim stated that the classroom will use a water jug and disposable cups for drinking water both indoor and outdoor during covid.
