25 | On 3/23/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Site Supervisor, Susan McDonald. LPA explained the reason for the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The licensee is requesting an increase of capacity from 135 preschool children to 175 preschool children by adding two additional classrooms. This program currently operates year round from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM in classrooms one through six in three buildings. Classrooms 1 and 2 share a building, Classrooms 3 and 4 share a building, Classrooms 5 and 6 share a building and Classrooms 7 and 8 share a building. The increase of capacity will operate in classrooms seven and eight. Site Supervisor stated that the program offers breakfast, lunch, AM/PM snacks and extended snack for children who are at the facility during the late afternoon. Food is prepared off-site at a centralized kitchen and delivered to the facility daily. LPA observed staff offices and a staff bathroom in all four buildings. Ill children will be isolated in the staff office in each building and use the staff bathroom in each building. Cleaning supplies are kept in locked janitorial closets which are inaccessible to children.
Classrooms one through six were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in those six classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPA reminded Site Supervisor to anchor cubbies and high cabinets located in all eight classrooms so they can not be tipped over. LPA observed that the center has a working carbon monoxide detector installed. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables and chairs. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys.
Room measurements in classrooms one through six were taken and reviewed with Site Supervisor. The total inside preschool area of classrooms one through six measured to an approximate 5,552 square feet. LPA was unable to measure the inside area of classrooms seven and eight due to the classrooms not being set up and ready to operate. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings. There is a total of 16 toilets and 16 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the requested capacity. There are water fountains in each classroom and outdoors. The outside square footage measured to an approximate 14,321 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 175 preschool children. Outside toys and equipment are age appropriate.
