On July 12, 2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brannon and AGPA Navarro, conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection for the preschool license. LPA met with Director, Cristina Ortiz, and toured the facility indoors and outdoors. Days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

There is no swimming pool or other bodies of water on the premises. There are no firearms or ammunition allowed or stored on the premises. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible. No poisons were observed during the inspection.

Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Upon entering classroom #1, LPA observed that the rug at the entry door is rolling up and the circle time rug is curling up on one corner. These are a potential tripping hazards. LPA observed a child size blue couch in classroom # 1, with a hole in the seat. In this room, the children are drinking from a water fountain, per staff #1, staff disinfect the water fountain after every use. In classroom #2, the children drink from disposable cups and use a water pitcher.

The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition. Licensee is utilizing wood chip as cushioning. The climbing structure has spider webs on the top and in underneath area that is accessible to children in care. The mature oak tree provides shade for the children. The mature oak tree has limbs that are too low and can interfere with visual supervision of children. There are three black hard plastic borders around the climbing structure area. These borders have large cracks, running down the length of the border block. One of the black border blocks that leads into the play yard has a screw sticking up. Licensee has plenty of cushioning on the play yard. However, there is too much cushioning next to the play yard wrought iron fencing, making the height of the fencing less that the required 4 ft height. The climbing structure does not have the required age limitation sticker posted.

Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Areas around high climbing equipment, swings and slides have cushioning material to absorb falls. The facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements.
