25 | On 02/17/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an announced prelicensing inspection and met with Owner, Jeffrey Farmer, Wife Shelia Harvey, & Site Supervisor, Djeanee Martin. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located on 3835 N West Ave in Fresno, CA. Jeffrey is doing a change of ownership and is requesting a preschool capacity of 46 preschool children. This program will operate year-round from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday. This program will operate in classrooms labeled Yellow Room & Blue Room. The Center will provide breakfast, lunch, & two snacks. Food will be prepared on site (kitchen) which has hot running water. The kitchen has a half door which will remain closed and locked from the inside at all times. The knives and cleaning items will be kept in a locked cabinet for extra precaution. Some other cleaning items will be stored in the a locked closet in the blue room. Sheila stated that children will eat in their designated classrooms. Staff will utilize the staff bathroom located by the back of the blue room. Ill children will be isolated in the site supervisors office and will use the staff bathroom.
The classrooms had age appropriate toys and were free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. A working carbon monoxide is installed in each classroom. Sheila stated that she will have a sanitation table at the front entrance of the center so parents wont come inside. Parents will be able to sign in/out their children. Staff are doing wellness checks every morning during drop off and take the children's and staffs temperatures.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Sheila & Jeffrey. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 1,610 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in each classroom. LPA observed plenty of tables, chairs, cubbies, mats, & cots.
