25 | On 10/30/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Jose Penate conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and was met by Licensee, Maria Ortiz and assistant. Licensee is Spanish speaking. Days and hours of operation are Monday – Friday; 5:00AM to 5:00PM and Saturdays from 5:00PM – 3:00PM. This facility is licensed as a large facility of 14, there must be an additional qualified staff person present anytime the facility goes beyond the ratio for a capacity of eight.
LPA toured the home inside and outside and a census was taken. Current facility sketch reviewed, and Licensee confirmed that the kitchen, bathroom and living room are used for providing care and are accessible to children. All other rooms are off-limits and made inaccessible by use of locked doorknobs. There is a swimming pool that is currently under construction and it not complete, the pool has no water in it and the children do not have access to the pool. Firearms and ammunition are stored and locked separately. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible.
There is fireplace in the home that is barricaded by a sofa and it is not used during day-care hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort.
This is a single level home and there are no stairs. Safe toys and play equipment are observed. The home has working telephone service and LPA confirmed the phone number is (559) 480-7708.
Licensee ensures that children in care are supervised at all times and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. The outdoor play area backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained.
LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files and observed files were complete with emergency information as required. Licensees Mandated Reporter Training is valid and will expire on 01/30/2025. Licensees’ pediatric CPR/First Aid is valid and will expire on 12/02/25. A review of records indicates that all employees and/or volunteers have immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis, and measles. All adults who reside or work in the home have a criminal record clearance or exemption. There are no excluded individuals present at this home.
