25 | An inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kiriko Lynch. The facility is located on shared grounds with a Klamath-Trinity Unified School District elementary school site. The facility file was reviewed prior to this visit. A review of the file indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record clearances or exemptions through the Department via Northcoast Children's Services.
The facility operates during the school year Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. The facility was toured inside and outside, and the floor and yard plan submitted by the licensee were verified. The items which could pose a hazard to children such as detergents, cleaning compounds and medications were observed to be inaccessible to children. The toys, floors, desks and other equipment and surfaces are clean, and appeared safe and in good condition. There is uncontaminated drinking water available to children both indoors and outdoors via drinking fountain and pitcher and cups. The children's restrooms are in safe and sanitary condition. The facility provides breakfast and lunch provided by the on-site elementary school. Food was properly stored. Garbage can had a tight fitting lid. The playground was free of hazards and play equipment and surface areas are in safe condition. There is rubber mat cushioning underneath climbing structures and/or play equipment to absorb falls. There were no bodies of water observed. During today's inspection, staffing ratios and capacity were being met. Two staff were supervising 8 children. Staff present have current pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications that were observed at 10:00 AM, and one expires on 09/28/20. Staff mandated reporter training certifications were also observed at 10:00 AM..
