Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Yolanda Baez arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of an increase of capacity. LPA met with Director Ignacia Avila. This Preschool program operates in the following classrooms: Room A, Room B, Room C, and Room E. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.

Rooms A, B, C, and E were inspected and measured during this inspection and measure the following:
  • Room A: Preschool Class (ages 3 to 5 years): measured 1,533.4 square feet
  • Room B: Preschool Class (ages 3 to 5 years): measured 650.62 square feet
  • Room C: Preschool Class (ages 3 to 5 years): measured 891.44 square feet
  • Room E: Preschool Class (ages 3 to 5 years): measured 631.21 square feet

The total indoor square footage calculation is 3,706.67 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 105 preschool children but not sufficient for the requested capacity of 120 children. Both the Director and Licensee (Cindy Alba) agreed to license for 105 children and Ms. Alba provided an update to the LIC 200A. All classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture and napping equipment (cots) including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. Room A and Room B are both located in the same modular building and there is a separate restroom for children and staff located in the modular building with a total of 5 toilets and 5 sinks available for children. The staff bathroom that is located in the modular building is equipped with one toilet and one sink, is kept inaccessible, and will be used as an isolation bathroom for children who are ill. Room E is equipped with a bathroom that consists of 2 toilets and 2 sinks. There is also a separate children's bathroom located near Room E and the Play Yard 1 area that is equipped with 2 toilets and 2 sinks. Therefore, there are a total of 9 toilets and 9 sinks available for the children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the new requested capacity of 105 children. Drinking water is available in all of the classrooms via water dispensers and disposable cups. ...Continuation on page 2...

The facility has two Preschool Play Yards that are separated by a fence. Play Yard 1 is a combination of a large grass area that has a large canopy used for shade and a cement area that has large canopies for shade that is located in between Room E and the modular building where Rooms A and B are located. The combined areas measured a total of 8,910.72 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 118 children at one given time. The cement area is equipped with a water table, sand box, play kitchenette, tricycle area, a soccer area with two small soccer goals, and children's benches.
