25 | On 02/03/21 at 11:20 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a Case Management – Licensee Initiated inspection. Upon arrival LPA, met with Director, Olga Mendez and proceeded to tour the facility. There were 11 children in care with two staff members at time of visit. The facility is within ratio/capacity limitations. The facility is requesting a capacity increase of 75 preschoolers; ages 2 through 5 years old and adding classrooms #5 and #6 to license in order to accommodate the requested capacity. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Classrooms #5 and #6 were inspected and measured during this inspection and measured the following:
Classroom #5: measured a total of 525.59 square feet
Classroom #6: measured a total of 529.56 square feet
Classrooms #5 and #6 measure a total of 1,055.15 square feet.
Classrooms #1, #2, and #3 were previously measured in 10/2018 and measured a total of 1,704.95 square feet. The total indoor space for classroom #1, #2, #3, #5 and #6 measure a total of 2,760.10 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 78 children at one time; however, facility is only requesting a capacity of 75 children. Classroom #4 will not be utilized by the preschool. Classrooms #5 and #6 are equipped with appropriate furniture, napping equipment, including cots, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. The facility has a total of six toilets and six sinks exclusive for the children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. LPA informed the director children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the restrooms and direct visual observation is required at all times. Drinking water is available in the classrooms through the use of refillable water dispensers and cups provided by the facility. The Director's office area is located in classroom #3, which will be used as the isolation area for ill children, if needed. The staff restroom is designated as the isolation restroom for ill children, which consist of 1 toilet and 1 sink. There is a carbon monoxide detector in the facility and a first aid kit with required supplies. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children.
