25 | On 5/8/23 at 9:20am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with Licensee, Alejandrina Ortiz. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility. There were eight (8) children present. Also present was licensee’s husband, David Ortiz and helper, Claudia Jiminez. This single story, 3-bedroom, 1 bathroom home was inspected. The following areas are used for childcare: living room, bathroom, kitchen, back yard, bedroom 1 and day care room. Off limits areas include: bedrooms 2 and 3 which are made inaccessible to day care children through the use of door locks. Facility operates Monday through Friday 6:00am – 6:00pm.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were not made inaccessible to children in care. At 9:25am, LPA observed kitchen knives, chemicals and medication accessible to children in the kitchen, bathroom and backyard. LPA informed licensee that sharp knives, chemicals and medication shall be made inaccessible to children in care; licensee made hazardous items inaccessible to children during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water on the premises. Licensee stated there are no firearms or weapons in the home. LPA informed licensee the children shall be supervised during outdoor activities.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee acknowledged understanding of the requirements for criminal record clearances.
Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire 8/24. Licensee has required immunization records on file, per file review. Licensee, licensee’s husband and helper do not have mandated reporter training certification; see LIC809D for deficiency cited. LPA informed licensee the mandated reporter training shall be completed once every two years.
