25 | On March 21, 2022, at 1:15 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Teresa Serrano. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Two (2) daycare children and no staff were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two story, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: living room, tv room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom #1, and backyard. Off limits areas are all of upstairs (bedrooms #1, #2, #3, #4, bathroom #2, #3, and garage and are inaccessible through use of door knob covers and safety gate. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday 5:00 am to 9:30 pm.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were made inaccessible to children during the inspection. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities at time of inspection. Licensee is in the process of converting her garage into a daycare room and did not advise the department. The upstairs is not used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the applicant understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expired on 3/18/22. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on 5/26/21. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. Licensee states she has not conducted fire and disaster drills due to she was not aware she had to conduct them. |
