On 5/9/2022 at 12:15pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Martha Malane conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with Licensee, Ivonne Banda. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility. Licensee’s helper and four (4) children were present, two (2) of whom were infants, in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a single story, three (3) bedroom, three (3) bathroom home. Licensee accompanied LPA during this inspection. The following areas are utilized for childcare: day care room, bathroom and side yard. Off limits areas include: the entire house and backyard. Licensee stated day care children do not have access to the back yard and only utilize the side yard for outdoor activities.

The fire extinguisher and smoke/carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were observed inaccessible to children during this inspection. Licensee was reminded that supervision is to be given to children during outdoor activities. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water and LPA did not observe and bodies of water during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons or ammunition in the home. Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire 9/2023 and mandated reporter certificate expires 4/8/2024. A facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 4/25/2022.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

No violations cited during today’s inspection.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Licensee, Ivonne Banda. Licensee’s son, Juan Banda Jr. provided translation. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
