25 | On August 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Alma Ruiz. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Three (3) daycare children and one (1) staff member was present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two story, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house, and a studio. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: Living room, kitchen, dining room, bathroom 1, bedroom upstairs room #1 and upstairs bathroom #2, family room, daycare area 1 (infant area), new daycare room 2, and backyard. Off limits areas are upstairs, bedroom #2, #3, #4, laundry room, bathroom #3, studio and are inaccessible through use of a safety gate and door knob covers. Hours of operation are: 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 5:00 am depending on parents schedules.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Not all hazardous items were made inaccessible to children during the inspection. At about 10:40 am, LPA observed cleaning compounds in the hallway closet and motor oil and plants with spikes that were made accessible to daycare children. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities at time of inspection. The upstairs is not used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the Licensee understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances. |
