25 | On 10.30.23 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kris Diaz conducted a case management inspection at Faller State Preschool for the purpose of inspecting the newly installed playground. LPA met with the facility representative who granted access and led LPA on tour of the center. At the time of the visit there were 20 children in care and 4 staff present.
LPA conducted a safety check at the facility where zero deficiencies were found. The playground has a fully shaded area that provides a shaded rest area for the children. The concrete areas have a walkway for children to safely reach the outdoor space. LPA observed the areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides and other similar equipment is cushioned with permanent rubber mats that absorb falls. The outdoor space is free from hazards. LPA observed a rubber sprinkler near a tree that is above the ground. Per facility representative, a cone will be placed over the sprinkler when the children are present at the playground until the sprinkler can be adjusted for safety. There is a bulldozer play structure that is missing a piece. Per facility representative the part should arrive soon. LPA advised that children not be permitted to play on the structure until the part arrives and is installed to ensure the safety of the children. Per facility representative, the structure will be made inaccessible with caution tape. Playground area has two emergency exits that each lead to other outdoor play areas at the elementary school. LPA reminded facility representative to provide 100% supervision to children in care at all times.
Per LPA, playground is safe and approved for use.
This inspection was conducted in person. A copy of this report, appeal rights, and notice of site visit (to be posted for 30 days) was given to facility representative. Exit interview conducted with Michelle Armstrong. |
