25 | An unannounced annual random inspection is made today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gloria Reyes. LPA met with Site Supervisor, Yuliana Casas who provided a tour of the infant classrooms and outdoor play area. This facility is a full day program which operates year round, Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM. There is currently one infant classroom in operation which is separated by a half wall. The classrooms are identified as Room 1A and Room 1B. Facility will not accept bottle fed infants. Licensee states they will not accept infants under one (1) year old nor infants that require a crib. Licensee has cots available for infants no longer utilizing cribs. Infant changing tables have padded surface no less than one inch thick, covered with washable vinyl, and raised sides at least 3 inches high.
The sink is not to be used for food preparation. Older potty training infants have access to toilets and sinks located in Room 2. Children's hand washing facilities are sanitary and in good operating condition. Toys are safe and do not have sharp points, edges or splinters, or made of small parts that can be pulled off. There is sufficient infant napping equipment. The infant indoor and outdoor activity space is physically separate from the space used by other day care children. The playground equipment and outdoor activity space is maintained and in good condition via blue rubber tiles. Licensee has been granted a playground waiver, to share the infant play yard with the two year old preschool children. The facility shall stagger the outdoor activity schedule to ensure the children are not on the play yard at the same time. Licensee has been granted an additional playground waiver for outdoor activity space, stating that no more than 17 infant children will be present in the outside play area at one time. The facility shall stagger the outdoor activity schedule to ensure no more than 17 children are on the play yard at any given time. Facility is in compliance with staff infant ratios. All infants are under visual observation at all times. Facility is completing a Needs and Services plan for infants. Staff utilized as infant teachers have three child development units in infant/toddler care. Staff were spoken to during visit. There are no bodies of water. Firearms and ammunition are not on the premises. Disinfectants, hazardous items and medications are inaccessible to children. Storage area for poisons is locked. Furniture and equipment are sufficient, age appropriate and in good repair. (see next page) |
