32 | Children are inspected for illnesses (health check) as they arrive. A review of medication policy indicated that prescription medication is administered and only with the parent's written permission and written permission from the doctor for the medication to remain at the center. The Supervisor or trained staff (training by health administer) administers the medication and documents the dosage, date, and time onto a log. The center uses the IMS (Incidental Medical Service) binder for all medication. All medication is properly labeled and stored in its original container. There is a separate area for isolation and care of ill children in the Supervisor's office. There is a cot available for each ill child. Children are escorted to the children's bathroom when ill.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to the publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childquanda.htm. Pre Supervisor, there is not children need IMS at this time.
Supervisor/child ratios were observed. Care and supervision were evaluated to determine if the basic needs of children are met and appropriate. The staff has training monthly/weekly (OSHA, safety meeting, policies, and procedure, licensing Title 22 supervision, preparing for emergencies, child abuse).
Fire/earthquake drills are current. The center conducts the drills monthly (2/02/23).
