On January 31, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Calloway made an unannounced inspection to the above facility for the purpose of conducting a Required Annual inspection. LPA met with facility director who granted access. LPA toured the facility with Director and observed 32 children in active play with 3 teachers, 2 assistants, and 2 classroom aides. The school consists of four (4) classrooms, one classroom is not in use. The facility operates from 7:30 am to 4:30 PM. Monday- Friday.

Physical Plant: LPA observed clean and safe classrooms, telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation are adequate. There are cubbies for children's belongings (labeled) in each classroom. Furniture, equipment, toys, books, and materials were age appropriate. Drinking water is available inside the classrooms (water dispensers and disposable cups). Sufficient napping (cots) for children. The bedding is stored separately and per Director, washed weekly. Each classroom has a First aid backpack which is kept hanging in the classrooms. There is an Emergency Survival Kit Bin (sealed) employee breakroom. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector (operable). Fire alarm pull switch (observed) all classrooms.

Bathrooms: LPA inspected the children's bathroom. There is 1 toilet and 1 sink, functioning properly with toilet paper, and age appropriate (no hazards). LPA observed two outside handwashing sinks with soap and paper towels readily available. Additional bathrooms for children are down the hallway on the left with 4 sinks, and 4 toilets, with

soap, paper towels, and toilet paper and a storage cabinet (unlocked) with diapers, extra toilet paper, and paper towels. Staff restrooms are in the hallway outside of the classroom.

Kitchen: There is a clean, fully equipped kitchen with two refrigerators, freezer, three conventional ovens, stove top, three microwaves, dishwasher, laundry room, icemaker, two full food prep areas with sinks, and a separate three basin sink for dishwashing. The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks. Menus are posted. Lunch is provided from vendor school district and breakfast and snack comes from central kitchen weekly. LPA observed allergy list posted. There are also allergy lists in each classroom. LPA observed an appropriate amount of food and snacks. The chemicals are kept separate from the food. Cleaning supplies in classrooms are in the upper cabinets (safety latches) cleaning supplies in the kitchen below the sinks (safety latches) and safety data sheet binder is in the kitchen.

Outside: Outdoor play equipment was inspected for health, safety, cushioning material, good repair and is age appropriate. LPA observed one small play structure and one large play structure (not in use) with cushioned material underneath both, both structures are securely anchored. There is sand, grass, and concrete areas for active play. Small moveable basketball court and age-appropriate bikes. Shaded area. The playground free of debris. Drinking water is

Other: Children and staff files were reviewed. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid (Expires: 11/2025). Transportation is not provided. Medical policy reviewed. Disaster Drills: Fire/Earthquake current (01/2024) and Roster (current). Lead flyers are given to parents during admission. Children are inspected for illnesses as they arrive. available (water cooler and disposable cups). No bodies of water on the premises.

There is a separate room for isolation and care of ill children in Director’s office (front of center). There is a separate cot with fresh linens available for each ill child. Teacher/child ratios were observed as well as sign in/out sheets (digital). Center Director was reminded to access the Licensing website at ccld.ca.gov to obtain information about the most recent regulatory changes and the Quarterly Updates. A review of medication policy indicated that prescription medication is administered only with parent's written permission. The management staff administers medication and documents the dosage, date, and time onto a log. Medication is brought and taken home by the parents daily or stored in the backpack. Medication is properly labeled and stored in its original container.
