25 | On 4/16/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Theresa Marquez conducted a Case Management inspection and met with Director Rebecca Jarrett. The purpose of this inspection is in regards to a self reported incident that occurred at the preschool on 3/6/2024.
On 3/6/2024, a child was getting up from a nap when her shoe got caught in the sheet of her cot. The child fell forward and landed on the steel edge of the cot hitting her right wrist. Director Jarrett assessed the child's injury. The child was asked to raise her arm and when she did, the child began to cry. Staff notified the child's parent for pick up and medical treatment. On 3/7/2024, the child was seen by her physician and the her wrist was placed into a splint. On 3/11/2024, the child had a follow-up Dr. appt. and her wrist was placed into a cast. The child continued to attend preschool. The cast was removed on 3/27/2024.
Director Jarrett reported the incident to LPA Marquez on 3/6/2024. Jarrett also submitted the LIC 624 Unusual Incident form which was received in the Fresno South licensing office on 3/15/2024.
Staff are now ensuring children's blankets/sheets are pulled away from children prior to the children standing up and walking away from their cots.
This appears to be an isolated incident and staff took appropriate measures to address the child's injury and reporting requirements to the licensing office.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations no deficiency was observed today. |
