25 | On 08/24/2020, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angelica Mejia conducted a Licensee initiated case management tele-inspection. Due to COVID-19 and the suspension of in-person visits, LPA conducted a tele-inspection with Senior Director Alesha Hixon via FaceTime. The purpose of today's tele-inspection was to inspect a new shade structure recently installed in the playground area. Alesha provided photos of the new shade structure via email. LPA placed the
The shade structure is located in the preschool playground area and covers a portion of a large, cemented play area. The shade structure is large and rectangular and is approximately 20 feet tall. The shade structure is composed of four large black posts cemented into the ground and a dark blue, rectangular canvas sail stretching across the top, which is securely attached at each of the four posts. Each of the shade structure posts are wrapped with a black bumper that provides padding to protect against injuries due to collisions with the post. Each bumper begins at the base of the post where it meets the cement and continues up the post to a height of approximately four feet. LPA observed the area underneath the shade structure to be empty; Alesha stated they currently do not have any plans to place equipment under the structure but they may eventually place picnic tables there. Alesha stated the primary purpose of the shade structure is to provide general shade for children during outside playtime. Licensee shook the shade structure at different points and LPA observed it to be secured and sturdy.
LPA observed other shade structures within the playground which Alesha stated were previously approved through licensing. LPA and Alesha discussed ensuring that any permanent fixtures installed underneath the shade structure such as a play structure, would need to be inspected before allowing children access. Based on observations during today’s video inspection, LPA has determined the shade structure to be safe effective today, 08/24/2020.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies were cited.
An exit interview was conducted with Alesha and a copy of this report and appeal rights were provided via email. Alesha stated she will send a copy of the report signed with her original signature to the Fresno Regional Office. |
