25 | On 05/06/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Pete Espinoza conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Director, Donna Ward. LPA explained the reason of the inspection and a tour of the center was conducted both inside and outside. The center is located on the campus of Wonderful College Prep Academy - 2070 Veneto in Delano 93215 Licensee is requesting a decrease of capacity - 48 preschool children. This program operates on a traditional school year schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. This program operates in Classroom 104 &154.
Breakfast, lunch, & a PM snack is provided by the school. Food is prepped in the cafeteria and brought over to each classroom where it gets disbursed to each child. The cleaning supplies will be stored in a cupboard that is at the entrance of each classroom. It has a latch in place to make it inaccessible to children. Staff will utilize the staff bathroom located outside office. Ill children will be isolated in the office and will use the bathroom located there.
The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment appeared to be safe and in good condition. LPA reminded applicant to not store anything on top of the children's cubbies or tall bookcases that could potentially fall on the children. Donna understood. LPA observed a working carbon monoxide detector inside each classroom. She also stated that there is a sanitation station at the front entrance where staff will do wellness checks every morning during drop off and take the children's and staffs temperatures every morning.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Donna. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 2,143 square feet which will accommodate the requested 48 capacity. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings in each classroom. There are enough tables, chairs, & cots for the newly requested capacity. The cots will be stored in the classroom. Donna stated that quiet play time will be available for non-sleepers. Donna understand that additional staff will be required.
