25 | On 06/14/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Pete Espinoza, conducted an unannounced Required 1-Year Inspection. LPA met with Betsy Dunkel, Licensee who accompanied LPA on a tour of the home, inside and outside, as shown on the facility sketch. Days and hours of operation are Mon-Fri 05:30 PM – 07:30 AM, Sat & Sun 24 hours..
The areas of the home that are accessible to the daycare children are the kitchen, living room, Family Room, and hallway bathroom. “Off-limits” rooms are made inaccessible by latches at top of door.
LPA observed 3 small dogs. Swimming pool is fenced per regulation. The pool gate is self-latching, self-closing and opens away from the swimming pool. No windows or doors have direct access to the pool area. There are no firearms or ammunition on the premises. No poisons were observed during the inspection. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children. There are no fireplaces or open face heaters in the home. The fireplace located in the Family Room is made inaccessible by a screen and will not be in use during daycare hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. Stairs are fenced or barricaded when children under age 5 years old are present. Safe toys and play equipment were observed.
LPA stated she does NOT care for children under the age of two (2) years. LPA observed accorded safe, healthful, and comfortable accommodations, furnishings, and equipment. There is a working telephone and cellphone number was verified. LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files, which were complete with emergency information as required. Licensee maintains documentation of immunizations for influenza, pertussis, and measles for herself and staff. Licensee’s Pediatric CPR/First Aid are current expiring on 11/07/2022. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter training certificate was completed on 04/28/2022. Licensee is aware that any authorized employee of the Department may enter and inspect any place providing personal care and services at any time, with or without advanced notice.
