Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Brannon met with licensee, Rosa Herrera. She is Spanish speaking. Spouse, Jose Herrera, provided interpretation during today's announced inspection. Licensee is inactive status and would like to be in the active status for her child care Family Child Care Home license.

During today's inspection, LPA toured the home. Day care children will have access to the following areas: kitchen and dining rooms, living room, hallway bathroom and one bedroom that is turned into a day care room. Currently, the back yard is off limits due to licensee is remodeling the backyard to provide a safer environment. At this time, the children will be playing in the front yard. Per licensee, there will be no cars in the driveway and the wrought iron gate will be closed and locked. When taking the children back inside, the gate will be unlocked. When the backyard remodel is completed and safe for day care children, licensee will notify Licensing and schedule an inspection visit. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functional. The fire extinguisher is correct size and charged. The off-limit bedrooms have child proof devices on the door knobs. Licensee has one small dog is kept in the small yard off the back yard and does not interact with day care children. LPA reviewed Safe Sleep regulations for infants, fire drill log requirements and parent board posting requirements.

The following item is required for Family Child Care Home license to be active:

1) A current copy of the General and Child Care Provider child abuse training. Licensee will either take the classes or provide current copies of the training. Upon receipt of the required certificates, the facility license will be in the active status. Licensee will email LPA their required documentation. During today's inspection, LPA provided her email address.

This report shall be made available to the public upon request.
