25 | On 8/30/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ocegueda conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of reviewing the use of water slides and Covid-19 safety precautions. Before entering the facility, LPA conducted a Covid-19 safety screening. LPA met with Teacher in charge Lee Whisenant, obtained a census and toured the facility.
LPA Ocegueda discussed the water slide licensee offers for water play during the summer months. LPA recommended that licensee and staff provide more than adequate supervision at all times during use and that a staff always be at the bottom of the slide. Per teacher Whisenant, only one child at a time is able to use the slide to help prevent injuries. The manufacturer guidelines should be followed at all times and there should also be documentation that indicates the age group the water slide is meant for. Water slides should only be used over grass, not over any hard surface like cement. Any remaining water should be drained completely when not in use as to avoid having an unattended or open of body of water.
LPA discussed Covid-19 guidance today in order to provide some information as Covid-19 cases increase in the local area. LPA reminded licensee of the requirement of all staff to wear masks (regardless of vaccination status). Children over the age of two years old are also required to wear a proper face covering. Licensee and staff should encourage and continue to remind children to wear masks over their mouth and nose. Continued cleaning, sanitation, hand washing, and ventilation should be practiced to help reduce the risk of spread of Covid-19. Teacher Lee Whisenant was advised that all Covid-19 incidents (confirmed cases, possible exposures) with any child, parent, or staff should be reported to their local health Department and to Community Care Licensing as an Unusual Incident for data collection purposes and guidance.
An exit interview was conducted with teacher Lee Whisenant. Per the California Code of Regulations, Division 12, Chapter 1, no deficiencies were cited under this case management inspection.
