LPA met with Myaiah Moroles and Director Theresa Martin. LPA toured the facility and took a census.
On 9/9/2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ocegueda inspected the newly installed play structure. LPA observed the play structure was labeled for use of children 2-5 years old. Per lead teacher Myaiah Morales, she stated to LPA that it was not a donation and the play structure was brand new and installed by licensees husband. There was substantial cushioning (wood chips) in fall zones and throughout the area where the play structure was today. The play structure was sturdy without defects. High touch areas were observed to have hand prints and it was recommended that the play structures high touch areas be wiped down and disinfected regularly. The play structure was installed earlier in 2021, but the exact date was unknown. LPA reviewed the requirement to inform the Department of this type of change and the pertaining regulation was reviewed. The play structure was approved for use today.
Also reviewed today, was the requirement of staff and children to wear masks. An attempt should be made by staff to encourage and remind children in positive manner to continue to wear their masks indoors as recommended by the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) and local Health Department to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. LPA observed several parents walk in at drop off children without a mask. Staff was observed asking the parents to wear a mask. LPA recommended that staff monitor parents before entering the facility to ensure they have a mask at drop off or that the child be dropped off at the door if the parent does not have a mask so as to not put staff and other children at risk. Parents should not be denied entry per their parents rights, however parents should wear a mask upon entering, practice social distancing and not prolong their presence past the necessary time at the facility. LPA also reviewed reporting requirements as it pertains to any Covid-19 positive cases in the facility that included any staff, children or parent.
