On 5/5/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ocegueda conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of discussing the play structure and outside shading at the facility. LPA met with Licensee/Owner Veronica Puga and provided the reason for the inspection. LPA toured the facility and a census was taken.

Today, LPA Ocegueda observed that the facility had an outside shaded area for the children, however there was no shade that covered the play structure in the middle of the play yard. Licensee confirmed that she had stated to LPA Ocegueda during a previous consultation on 9/9/2021 that she would be purchasing a shade structure for the area very soon. Although there is no requirement per the regulation to have shade over the play structure specifically, it is best practice, as plastic and metal play equipment can become hot and pose a risk to children in care if used during warmer temperatures. Licensee stated that she understood that children should not use any play equipment that was hot and that her staff tests the equipment before use. Licensee still plans on placing shade over the play structure to help keep it cooler, but will continue to have children play outside in early mornings while its cooler outside and will continue to monitor all play equipment for safety before use. Licensee stated she would inform her assigned analyst when she installs the shade structure to have it inspected. Licensee also stated she provides water with an igloo container and cups outside for the children to freely access at all times.

Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, no deficiencies are cited during this case management inspection.

An exit interview was conducted with licensee/owner Veronica Puga.
