The Licensee requested a capacity increase to operate as a Large Family Child Care Home. An increase of capacity application was received on April 2, 2019, requesting a capacity of 14 children. The facility was granted a fire clearance by the Lakeport Fire Department on 06/03/19. There are currently three adults living in the home. There were three children in care at the time of inspection. Fees are current.
During today’s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The licensee was supervising three children, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. No children were observed left in any parked vehicle. The facility’s operating hours are 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday - Sunday. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limits areas of the home are the three bedrooms, the full bathroom in the hallway, detached garage and the backyard, and were made inaccessible by door knob covers and children's safety gates. The home was observed to be clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature of 70 degree Fahrenheit. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. The licensee stated there is a working telephone in the home. The licensee’s pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications were reviewed, and expire on 04/2021. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Licensee states there are no poisons in the home, The requirement that poisons are to be locked with a key lock/combination lock is reviewed. The LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The roster of children in care was reviewed and was current. |
