A review of staff records on 03/21/22 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. There are currently two adults living in the home.
During today’s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The licensee was supervising two infants, and one preschool child, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. No children were observed left in any parked vehicle. The facility’s operating hours are 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The "off limits" areas of the home are three bedrooms, laundry room, and the detached garage, and were made inaccessible by door key locked doors. The home was clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. The licensee's CA mandated reporter training certificate expires September 2022. Items which could pose a danger to children (detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were stored out of the reach of children. Licensee stated there are no poisons in the home. The regulation that poisons are to stored in a space using a key or combination lock is reviewed. There is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher rated at least 2-A, 10:BC. The licensee has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months, most recent Fire drill was documented on 1/24/22. The licensee stated there are no firearms and/or other dangerous weapons in the home, and none were observed during today's inspection. The children use the front yard and back yard as the outdoor play area and it is fully fenced. No bodies of water were observed. Four children's (C1 and C4) records were reviewed at 1:20 PM; required emergency information was observed to be on file. (Continue to LIC 809-C) |
