32 | There are 2 kitchens on the premises. One kitchen is located near the Preschool and is equipped with refrigerator, freezer and microwave oven. Snacks are stored in air tight containers. The facility provides two snacks daily (three snacks for extended care) and offers a hot lunch upon request; other children bring their lunch. Hot lunches are prepared in a separate kitchen. Menus are posted in each classroom. LPA observed an appropriate amount of food and snacks. The chemicals are kept separate from the food and there is hot running water in both kitchens. The preschool kitchen maintains a list of children with allergies and a copy is also kept in the child's classroom.
Outdoor equipment was inspected for safety, cushioning material, good repair and age appropriateness. Required shade, drinking water and fencing were inspected. Fencing around the perimeter of the play area is at least 4 feet high. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water. The facility is free of flies, insects and rodents.
LPA conducted a Children's Records Review for completeness and to ensure children have proper forms such as Identification and Emergency forms, Immunization records, Health History, Personal Rights, Parents Rights, Sleep Plan (LIC 9227) and sleep lot on file. The children's roster was available and current. Staff Records were reviewed to ensure the following: Criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption, education credits required for Infant Care, current CPR/First Aid and health preventative practices, proof of immunization against pertussis and measles and influenza and/or flu declination, Mandated Reporter training. LPA observed at least one staff member to have current EMSA approved pediatric CPR/1st Aid.
