On 02/25/2020 at 1:50 pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Antonio Almanza conducted an Announced Case Management visit at The Nurtury Preschool located at 14401 Dickens, Sherman Oaks Ca., 91423, for the purpose of adding the church activity room to the facility. LPA met the Director Debrah Kaufman whom guided LPA on tour of the facility. The facility is currently Licensed for 38 preschool children ages 2 thru 5 years of age and is located in the lower level of The Sherman Oaks United Methodist Church. Fire clearance for this space was cleared on 10/24/19 and resubmitted to the CCLD Office by the Fire Inspector on 02/24/20.

The activity room is located on the South end of the main hallway of the preschool. There are two large wooden double doors in the entrance. There are two steps that lead down to the activity room. The room has an open floor plan with a Chimney on the south wall. The chimney is screamed off making it inaccessible to children. The Director has stated that room will be used during hours of operation which are Monday to Friday 7am-6pm. The room will be used for group time, music, and other developmentally appropriate activities. The room will be used daily. The morning group will consist of 6-10 children. On special occasions the room will have 2 groups together.

The activity room has a cumulative space of 937.1 sq. ft. which allows for 26.7 children.

The room was inspected for safety hazards and appropriateness for what the facility is requesting the space. At this time the room has been inspected and found to be clear of hazards.

An exit interview is being conducted with the director and a copy of this report and site visit will be provided.
