32 | All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. At this time, the office is used as an isolation area. There are chairs in the office. Parents are contacted immediately when children are determined to be ill and staff are ensuring that children with obvious symptoms of illness are not being accepted.
Snack menus were reviewed to ensure that they are being posted at least one week in advance and visible to an authorized representative. Children enrolled bring their own lunch. The facility provides AM and PM snack. Preschoolers eat in lunch room which is located in the first floor adjacent to the kitchen, and toddlers eat in toddler classroom. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. There are two kitchens in the facility that are being used for this programs, one kitchen which is adjacent to the office is being used for preschool program, and the church kitchen is being used for Toddler Option. All food is protected from contamination, and LPA inspected that any contaminated food is discarded immediately. There is drinking water available in all indoor classrooms and outdoors. Per director children use their water bottles and teachers take children water bottles in trays outside.
All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. Storage areas for poisons are locked. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors that meet statutory requirements. The licensee takes measures to keep the facility free of flies, other insects and rodents.
Napping equipment and bedding was inspected for good condition, appropriate storage and cleanliness. Storage for children's belongings was inspected. Linens are washed weekly in the facility. There is Laundry equipment in the lower level between two bathrooms. This area is inaccessible to children.
There are two separated outdoor playgrounds on the facility for preschool and toddler option programs. Outdoor playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. During this inspection LPA inspected additional garden area as preschool outdoor play area. Garden area was observed to be in compliance with Title 22 Regulations. The Director states that there are no bodies of water on the premises and LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this inspection.
