Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Thelma Razo conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 9/21/2023 at 1:07 PM. LPA met with Director Michael Barkyoumb and stated the purpose of the visit. LPA provided a copy of the Entrance Checklist for Child Care Centers form (LIC 125). Director guided LPA on a tour of the facility at 1:07PM. This is a School Age program which also have an adult day program license (#198602059) that operates on the same grounds but on separate areas and staggered schedules to avoid commingling. Operating hours are from Monday through Friday 2:00PM-6:00PM, Saturday from 9:00AM-3:00PM. Facility operates from 9:00AM-6:00PM during spring/winter/summer break.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Children has not come in yet during the walk through. There are currently 41 children enrolled.

LPA observed the facility to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. Furniture and equipment for both indoor and outdoor were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. LPA observed the facility have a dedicated walking path leading to a fenced outdoor space. LPA did not observe any bodies of water during this inspection.

The facility provides snack. All kitchen, food preparation, and storage areas are clean, free of litter, rubbish, and rodents/vermin. Drinking water is provided through bottled water. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers on and are in good repair. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items that are dangerous to children are stored in an area inaccessible to children. The facility free of flies, other insects, and rodents.

Random sample of children's records were reviewed. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted on 09/05/2023. Fire extinguisher was fully charged and was serviced on 2/17/2023.

There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection. LPA also reviewed staff records. Staff present had proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. Staff present had proof against TB, measles, pertussis, and influenza.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For childcare center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP).
LPA reviewed lead testing reports - samples were taken on 12/19/2022 and results came back that meet California requirements.

There's no deficiency cited during this visit.

The Notice of Site Visit (LIC 9213) – must remain posted for 30 days during the hours of operation after each site visit by a licensing representative. Failure to maintain posting as required will result in a civil penalty of $100.00.
