25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Crystal Green and Mireya García conducted an unannounced case management inspection regarding an application submitted to the department requesting a capacity increase. LPAs met with Director, Sandra Wong, who guided analysts on a tour of the facility. Census and staff names were recorded. LPAs observed facility to be operating within its capacity limitation.
This facility is currently licensed for 70 children and has recently submitted a request to increase capacity to 76. The licensee is requesting to add an additional classroom to the current license, which will be named the “Tadpole” classroom. LPAs obtained measurements during this inspection. Outdoor space has been measured for a capacity of 94 children however, this facility currently has an approved waiver on file which allows for use of the outdoor play space on staggered schedule due to sharing outdoor space with the private school age children.
Due to the facility requesting a capacity increase an outdoor playground staggered schedule will need to be submitted to the department and approved prior to the approval of the capacity increase. An approved Fire Clearance has been granted by the City of Monterey Park Fire Department on 08/01/2019. LPA García will submit for approval of 76 children upon review of updated staggered outdoor play schedule.
LPAs Green and García conducted an exit interview with Director, Sandra Wong. Appeal Rights were issued and discussed.
