There are age-appropriate toys available for children in care. Furniture and equipment were inspected for good repair, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts and age appropriate. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. There is a fully equipped first aid kit available in the classroom. Individual storage space was observed to be available for each child.
10:30 am Licensing staff was guided through the proposed outdoor toddler play space which is located outside at the end of rooms K2 and K3. There is no adequate shade in the outdoor play area except for inside 2 small play structures. The outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts and age appropriate. Outdoor activity space surface is maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. The play yard is not surrounded by a fence and is open to the grass area that is shared by the preschool. Mr. Allen stated he will have a fence constructed to enclose the toddler yard for separation. LPA consulted regarding moving the toddler option to room K3 which is close to their own outdoor play yard, so they will not have to walk through the preschool yard to get to their own yard. Mr. Allen agreed to have the Toddlers in Room K3 and move the preschool to K1 which has the same capacity of 8 children.
Facility will provide linen for the week and linen will be cleaned at the end of each week. Teachers present must have proof of the required infant units on file and meet the qualification requirements.
During this inspection, LPA obtained measurements for the proposed toddler classroom (K1), however the toddler option will now be in room (K3) measurements were determined to be the same. Based on those measurements obtained, capacity for the proposed toddler program will be (8) eight, and the preschool capacity will remain the same at 101. Corrections needed before a license can be granted are, 1) Fence around the toddler option play grand, 2) Shade in the outdoor play yard, 3) Notification to LPA of the removal of the bungalow and play yard added for the toddlers.
