25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elka Chavez and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Trevino Cochran conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with Licensee Nellie Mendoza, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. Also present during this inspection was Licensee's spouse. There were 8 children present, 1 being infant. Licensee states that there are currently 11 children enrolled, children's roster was reviewed and is current. Per licensee operating hours are from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
This is a two-story home which consists of 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, den and backyard (fenced). The den (safety lock gate) is used as the main care area, the den has a separate side entrance for parents and bathroom. LPA observed bathroom free and clear of any hazards. LPA observed the main care area in the rear of the home, separate from the front of the house. No parents enter through the front of home. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: the second floor, front living room, kitchen, dining room, detached garage, laundry room(in detached garage), backyard shed and backyard detached room. All off limit areas are inaccessible and behind locked doors.
LPA observed all knives and sharp items stored high in upper kitchen cabinet and inaccessible to children. The licensee provides food for children in care. The licensee states that three adults live in the home. All individuals present in the home have obtained a criminal record clearance or exemption prior to working, residing or volunteering in a licensed home. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit.
