25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Warren Birks conducted an unannounced Required - 1 Year Inspection. LPA initially met with Director Emily Gould who assisted analyst with a tour of the facility. LPA later met with Human Resources Manager Sandra Oliva. This is a Preschool Program serving children two (2) through entry into first grade. The facility is housed on the site of the Barbara and Ray Alpert Jewish Community Center and consist of 13 class rooms (10 are in use currently). The current hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. The preschool program (indoors and outdoors) is physically separate from other programs and activities on the grounds. There is no commingling with other programs. Note: The Administrator listed is not associated with the facility and the typo is in the process of being.
All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. From 8:45 am to 9:10am. LPA observed the following: Room 1 (2 staff and 9 children), Room 3 (3 staff and 4 children), Room 5 (2 staff and 4 children), Room 7 (Zero staff and children), Room 8 (Zero staff and children), Room 9 (2 staff and 1 child), Room 10 (3 staff 10 children), Room 11 (2 staff and 8 children), Room 12 (1 staff and six children), Room 13 (2 Staff and 13 children). LPA inspected: all classrooms, outdoor areas, furniture, and equipment for age appropriateness and good repair. LPA observed telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation to be satisfactory. Children have adequate cubby storage for their belongings. Napping cots are stored with separation for each cot. LPA observed drinking water with drinking cups readily available in the classrooms. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, safety and sanitation. All available toilets and sinks are in operable condition.
All indoor classrooms have surfaces that appear to be clean and safe. All materials and surfaces accessible to children are toxic free. Storage areas for poisons are locked in containers inaccessible to children. The office is used as an isolation area to care for ill children. Parents are contacted immediately if children are ill. Director Gould indicated there are no weapons at the facility and LPA did not observe any. At approximately 9:10 am LPA observed outdoor play equipment to be in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. |
