32 | facility: Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting, and ventilation were evaluated. This is a part time 3-hour program and there is no napping. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. There is one toilet and one sink available and is in good repair. General sanitation was observed. Availability of indoor and outdoor drinking water was observed in classrooms via Sparklets’ service. Parents take turns cleaning and disinfecting toys, tables, restrooms, and surfaces. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children and stored in storage room inside activity room. Smoke and Carbon monoxide detectors were observed and are operable. The fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are serviced by the Long Beach Fire Department annually. (Licensee will provide the last invoice to LPA) There is no kitchen area. Parents bring snacks for the children. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids or solid waste bags shall be discarded immediately after each meal. Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, lose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with sand that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed. The licensee provides 100 percent visual supervision when the children play on the outside public playgrounds. All floors were observed to be clean and safe. All materials accessible to children were observed to be toxic-free There are no firearms stored on the premises. The Long Beach Bay and kayak rentals is next to the daycare. There is mesh netting around the daycare area during daycare hours. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Childcare Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
