On September 20, 2022 at 8:15AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Dayna Chambers, conducted a Case Management Incident inspection to follow up ona self-reported incident involving a statement that Child #1 told the parent after arriving home. Child #1 made a statement alleging an incident occurred at the center approximately between 11:00am to 11:40am on September 14, 2022. The parent of Child #1 spoke to the teacher on 09/15/22 about the statement Child #1 made at home on the previous evening. The parent asked the teacher to try and figure out what is going on. There were no witnesses to the alleged statement or interaction. The Monterey Park South West Child Care Office received the incident report on 09/15/2022 at 8:30am.

LPA Chambers arrived at the center at 8:15AM on September 20, 2022. Upon arrival, LPA met with Head Teacher, Teri Moreno and Director, Marian Stocking, who provided LPA a tour of the facility inside and outside. LPA observed 19 children in care playing outside and inside. Also present was Teacher Sheena McCarthy.

During this investigation, LPA interviewed staff, observed children, reviewed documents, obtained text messages, and photos. LPA observed the staff and children from 8:15am to 12:30pm LPA observed activities inside and outside of the center. LPA observed that teachers provide visual supervision and interact with the children while they are playing inside and outside in all areas of the center. LPA took photos from each corner of the play yard. LPA observed the center has a structured daily activity schedule where the children participate in various activities. Child #1 is still enrolled.
Based on LPA observation, record review, photos, and information obtained, LPA determined there was adequate supervision provided the day of the incident and during inspection on 09/20/22.
Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, no deficiency cited during today’s visit.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Marian Stocking, Director.
