Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rita Ramos conducted an unannounced required 1 year inspection to the above facility on 02/08/22. Upon arrival LPA met with Staff#1 who provided a tour of the facility. There were no children or other staff present upon arrival. COVID-19 precautionary measures were observed to be in place. LPA was later met by Coordinating Teacher, Nicole Vasallo. This facility is located within McKinley Elementary School in the city of Long Beach.

This is a preschool program that has 2 classrooms. Currently there is only classroom operating 2 part day sessions in Room 1105. The AM session operates from 8AM to 11AM and the PM session operates from 11:45AM to 2:45PM.

All areas identified on the Facility Sketch were inspected. Furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Storage for children's belongings, isolation area is in the health office at the elementary school. Due to part-day enrollment, children at this facility do not nap.

Availability of drinking water was observed indoors. Appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, paper towels, and general sanitation. First Aid supplies were observed. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other dangerous items to children, were inaccessible. Per Staff #1, there are no poisons stored at the facility. Carbon monoxide detectors were observed and tested to ensure that they are operable.

Menus were posted. This facility provides a full breakfast to children who are enrolled in the AM session and a full lunch to children enrolled in the PM session. Meals and snacks are delivered to the classroom. All meals and snacks are provided by the Long Beach Unified School District. -----Page 1 of 3

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Outdoor equipment was inspected for age appropriateness, safety, cushioned material to absorb a fall, and good repair. Shade, drinking water and fencing were inspected. Play area was inspected for hazards and inaccessibility to bodies of water.


All floors were observed to be clean and safe. All materials accessible to children were observed to be toxic-free. There are no firearms stored on the premises. There are no pools or bodies of water at the facility.

There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection.

Children’s Records were reviewed. Inspection of required forms was made and documented on the LIC 857.

Staff present did have proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. All staff have been given on the-job training sanitation principles, housekeeping, including universal health precautions.


LPA did not review confidential information due to those files being stored at the administrative office.

This facility utilizes an electronic sign in and out. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted on 01/27/22.
