This facility was observed to have carbon monoxide detectors.
Outdoor playground equipment is in a safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. LPAs observed that the edge of the fencing does have an area that is raised at the bottom. The Early Learning Center Manager informed LPAs that the area is not used by the preschool children and provided LPAs with a work order to have it fixed. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard. Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed.
All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption as a condition of employment with the Long Beach Unified School District. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection.
Children’s Records were reviewed for completeness; Inspection of required forms was made. LPAs issued the Children’s Record Review (LIC 857) to Natasha Jackson during this inspection. LPAs also issued the Review of Staff records (LIC 859) to the during this inspection. The LIC 857 and the LIC 859 documents the staff and children’s files that were reviewed during this inspection. Staff present did have proof of the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificate on file. Staff present did have proof against measles, pertussis, and influenza.
Children's roster was reviewed and is current. Sign-In and Sign-Out sheets were reviewed. Children present were signed in. Disaster drill log was available, last drill was conducted on 09/24/19.
When inspecting Room 1, LPAs observed that the lunch menu was dated for the month of November. The Head Teacher and Early Learning Center Manager informed LPAs that the December menu was posted directly behind the month of November. LPAs advised the Head Teacher and Early Learning Center Manager to ensure that the current month be visible at all times. This facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snack. There are separate monthly menus available to parents for each meal and snack provided. All meals are provided by the Long Beach Unified School District.
First Aid supplies were observed in the classroom in a cabinet. According to the Head Teacher, medication is only administered to a child when accompanied with a doctor's note and is stored in the a locked box in each classroom.
