25 | An unannounced Required – 1 Year Inspection was conducted on 12/09/2022 at 11:20 AM by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Katrina Chicote. Facility is currently licensed for a capacity of 55 and have 44 enrolled. Licensing staff initially met with Maria Ruvalcaba, Head Teacher, and disclosed purpose of the visit. The program currently operates Monday thru Friday from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. LPA was taken on a guided tour of the facility of both indoors and outdoors. LPA observed required postings outside and in each classroom.
At the initial start of the site visit, there is a total census of 25 preschoolers and a total census of six teachers present. Facility is located on Webster Elementary School campus and is made up of three classrooms: RM B-3 (2 year olds) LPA observed seven preschoolers with two staff (S1 and S2), RM B-2 with 12 preschoolers and two staff (S3 and S4), and RM B-1 with six preschoolers and two staff (S5 and S6).
Beginning at 11:25 AM, furniture and equipment were inspected for age appropriateness and good repair in each classroom. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. There were cubbies observed as storage for children's belongings. LPA observed child appropriate tables and chairs all well maintained and floor and carpets to be free of hazards at time of inspection. LPA observed learning stations in each classroom with shelves for dramatic play, manipulatives, art materials, and other age appropriate toys free of loose and sharp parts at time of inspection. LPA observed a quiet play area available for children with soft seating and books available. Upon arrival to facility, LPA observed children having lunch and teachers setting up to transition to nap time. LPA observed standard cots being used for nap time that are placed not blocking walkways or access to exits. Per Head Teacher, linens are provided by the facility and washed weekly and families provide additional blankets and taken home weekly. Availability of drinking water was reviewed. LPA observed water fountains and paper cups provided by each classroom. Age appropriate sinks and toilets were inspected for availability, good repair, water temperature, toilet paper, area safety and sanitation. LPA observed each classroom has access to their own bathroom each with two toilets and two sinks. LPA observed a diaper changing table for RM B-3 that meets Title 22 Regulation requirements.
