32 | The kitchen serves as a food storage area. The food storage area was observed to be clean and are free of litter, rubbish, rodents, and/or any other vermin. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids.
When inspecting the outdoor playground equipment, LPA observed a mat that was dirty (pictures were taken). LPA observed that a play house/hut and play table were covered in dirt/dust and spider webs (pictures were taken). Per Coordinating Teacher, children in care do come out to the yard daily to play and the play structure is cleaned and wiped once a week. LPA advised the Program Coordinator to have the outdoor play equipment cleaned and wiped at least once a day and if possible more than once due to the current pandemic. LPA went over COVID-19 precautionary measures during the inspection. The Program Coordinator had staff clean and wipe the playground equipment during the inspection. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall.
Availability of outdoor drinking water was observed. LPA advised that no children shall be left without the supervision of a teacher at any time.
While inspecting Room 31, LPA observed that the floor was dirty and the ceiling had a removed ceiling tile with a wire hanging out of it and another ceiling tile had water damage (pictures were taken). There are no firearms stored on the premises. There are no pools or bodies of water at the facility.
All individuals present have obtained a criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption as a condition of employment with the Long Beach Unified School District. There is at least one person trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid present during this inspection.
Children’s Records were reviewed. The name, address, and telephone number of child’s authorized representative are on file.
LPA did not review staff files during the inspection due to the staff files being stored at the administrative office. LPA will review staff files at a later time and date. If staff files were to be incomplete during the time and date that LPA reviews files, a case management inspection will occur at the facility to reflect the incomplete files.
