Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are kept in each classroom in a locked cabinet making the content inaccessible to the children in care. Director confirmed facility has a designated cleaning person that comes and cleans before the facility opens and during the day and at night time a cleaning crew comes in. First Aid Kit was observed in each classroom. Medication is stored in a locked cabinet in the classroom and in the director’s office.
Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. Playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts.
Facility has a current outdoor waiver issued 3/8/2022.
The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. LPA observed shaded area in the outdoor space with age appropriate play equipment and toys. Areas around high climbing equipment have cushioning material to absorb falls. Teachers ensure playground and outdoor equipment is safe and free of hazard before children use the area. LPA observed director removed one children’s tricycle that needs repair- a handlebar cover replaced. Director agrees to make the item inaccessible until repairs are completed. LPA observed an indoor gross motor area to be used in place of outdoor play yard for the toddler component.
All toilets and handwashing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating condition. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. All kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, free of litter/rubbish and free of rodents/vermin. Facility provides partial snacks and menus are sent out to families via online app- Seesaw that is used to communicate with families. Parent provide lunch and partial snacks- fruits and vegetables, facility provides a carb and/or protein. All food is protected against contamination and any contaminated food is discarded immediately. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors, filter water is provided in each classroom and children are encouraged to bring their refillable water bottle.
Facility has custodial staff responsible for daily cleaning and sanitizing an outside pest control vendor is contracted on an ongoing basis and comes to facility monthly to ensure facility is free of flies, insects and rodents. Teachers are responsible for the daily cleaning in between classroom activities.
No poisons were observed during the inspection.
