32 | Food preparation area was toured for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins had tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects and rodents. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medications and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children.
LPAs observed that there are functioning smoke and carbon detectors in the facility. LPAs observed a fully charged and serviced fire extinguisher. Emergency disaster drill was last conducted on 06/08/22.
Outdoor playground equipment is in safe condition, free of sharp, loose or pointed parts. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All areas around or under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment are cushioned with material that absorbs a fall. There is adequate shade in the play yard.
Sign in and out sheets were reviewed to ensure that the person who signs the child in and out uses their full legal signature and records the time of the day.
Children and staff records were not reviewed. Children files are transitioning to paperless at the Head Start Main Office. Staff files are also located at the Head Start Main Office. Teacher, Monica Carrillo provided proof of First Aid/CPR certificate that expires on 01/11/2023.
SB792 (Immunization Requirements for Staff and Employees) was discussed with the Director. The Director and staff do currently have immunization documentation.
