32 | According to Staff 1 (S1), Staff 2 (S2), Staff 3 (S3), Staff 4 (S4) and Staff (S5) sometimes staff raise their voice at a group of children to get their attention but it is not done so in a manner that children are being yelled at directly, put down or spoken to inappropriately. Staff further stated that they have large groups and the “teacher voice” is used so all children can hear/listen. S1 stated that trainings have been provided to staff and will continue to be provided as needed to ensure that when staff speak to children, the information is relayed in a more subtle tone.
According to Parent 1 (P1), Parent 2 (P2), Parent 3 (P3), Parent 4 (P4), Parent 5 (P5), Parent 6 (P6) and Parent 7 (P7), they have no concerns about the way their children are spoken to while in care and have never observed children being spoken to inappropriately or yelled at. Parents stated that they like the Child Care Center (CCC) and their children’s teachers. Parents further stated that their children also like the CCC and their teachers.
According to Child 1 (C1), Child 2 (C2), Child 3 (C3), Child 4 (C4), Child 5 (C5), Child 6 (C6), they like their school and they like their teachers. Children further stated that their teachers are nice to them and sometimes yell when they need the class to listen and pay attention. Children further stated that they are not scared of their teachers and teachers do not yell directly at them.
Based on the evidence as documented above, the allegations have been determined to be Unsubstantiated. A finding that the complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the allegation occurred.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
