NARRATIVE

Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, individuals present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. Licensing staff met with Child Development Specialist, Patty Linares. The facility hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:15AM to 3:15PM. This facility is currently licensed to service 66 children (54 preschoolers and 12 toddlers). Licensee is requesting to decrease their preschool capacity by removing a classroom and adding it to increase their existing toddler option capacity. LPA was provided a tour of the facility’s existing licensed areas. This facility has a total of 4 classrooms. The existing preschool classrooms are classroom 1, 2, and 3. The toddler program operates in classroom 4. The licensee is requesting to remove classroom 3 from preschool use and add it the existing toddler option program. During this inspection, LPA observed 17 preschoolers with 3 staff in classroom 1. In classroom 2 LPA observed 14 preschoolers with 3 staff. In classroom 3, LPA observed 9 preschoolers with 3 staff. In classroom 4, LPA observed 10 toddlers with 3 staff. The facility was observed to be operating within its licensed capacity. There are no shared areas between the preschool and the toddler option program. Licensing staff was guided through the outdoor activity areas. There are 2 designated outdoor play area (preschoolers’ yard and toddlers’ yard). Outdoor play equipment was observed to be in good condition, free of sharp, lose or pointed parts. Outdoor equipment was observed to be age-appropriate. Outdoor activity space surface was observed to be maintained in a safe condition as is free of hazards. There is adequate shade available outdoors via canopies. LPA observed there to be cushioning material available in areas around and/or under climbing equipment to absorb a fall. LPA did not observe any violations or hazards outdoors.

At this time, the facility was observed to be operating in compliance with California Title 22 Regulations. No measurements were obtained during this inspection. An approved Fire Clearance has been received by the department. The preschool capacity will be reduced to 36 preschoolers and the toddler capacity will be increased to 32. The overall capacity for this facility will be 68 children.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Child Development Specialist, Patty Linares. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
