32 | Per principal, they were informed about the incident and arrived to the class when S1 was placing an ice pack on the back of C1s head. Per principal, C1's parents were contacted and were advised to take C1 to the hospital. Per princpal, bleeding stopped upon C1s father arrival. Per principal, the director was also contacted, a First Aid report was created, an Unusual Incident Report was sent to the department, and an Istar and head injury report was created.
Per director, the child returned to school on 02/26/2026, as requested by the doctor. Per principal, C1 was allowed to return to school with no restrictions or limitations. Per principal, they were provided with a copy of the doctors report, by C1s mother. LPA was provided with a copy of a doctors notes.
The incident that occurred on 02/24/2026, was reported to the Department on 02/24/2026, via telephone. The facility reported the Unusual Incident to the Department within the required 24 hours of occurrence.
Information reported to the Department indicated that the school had been evacuated due to an emergency in the surrounding area.
During the visit, LPAs collected a copy of the facility roster, conducted interviews, and obtained other pertinent information.
LPA conducted interviews with Principal. Principal stated they received a call at 6:30AM on 02/24/2026, from Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Operations advising not to access the school due to an emergency in the surrounding area. At 6:45 AM, LAUSD Operations directed Principal to the command post at Tarzana Elementary. Tarzana Elementary opened up Room 9 and the room next to it for Vanalden Avenue Elementary EEC. The neighboring room was only used for nap time. Principal contacted families and staff through BlackBoard Connect (BBC) to have children dropped off and picked up from Tarzana Elementary. Per Principal, there were 35 children in attendance on 02/24/2026.
During the interview with Principal, Principal stated that 5 PCC students were picked up early and did not nap. Principal stated that Food was provided by Tarzana Elementary. neighboring Early Education Centers dropped off 40 cots and sheets.
