25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Judy Mora conducted an unannounced Annual random inspection. Visit was conducted in Spanish. LPA met with licensee, Hermelinda Garcia, who guided analyst on a tour of the facility. The licensee's daughter/assistant, Susan Garcia, was also present. There were no children present at the time of inspection. Licensee states that there are currently 12 children enrolled, children's roster was reviewed and is current. Disaster drill log was available, last drill documented was 09/11/19.
This is a one story home which consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room, garage, washroom, front and backyard (fenced). The children use the bathroom in the hallway, 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen area and backyard for play. Per licensee, areas off limits to children and parents include: 1 bedroom, licensee's bathroom, detached garage and front patio. The LPA toured all areas used by children during this visit. The Licensee is the only adult living in the home
Areas accessible to children were inspected to ensure that they are clean and orderly with ventilation and heating for safety and comfort (central air & heating). There is a working telephone service maintained in the home. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items which can pose a danger to children are inaccessible in all areas of the home. The licensee states that there are no poisons in the home. The licensee does understand that poison must be locked with a key or combination lock.
Per licensee, there are no bodies of water on the premises. There is a firearm in the home that is kept in a locked safe. Ammunition and firearm are kept separate. There were safe toys, play equipment and materials observed for children. Emergency Disaster Plan was observed to be posted at the time of visit. Children’s records were reviewed to ensure that each child has an Identification and Emergency form. The valve on the required 2A 10BC fire extinguisher indicates fully charged (serviced 07/11/19). Smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in the living room were tested, and are in operable condition. The licensee has current Pediatric First Aid and CPR, which will expire 02/2020.
