25 | On 10/8/2019 Licensing Program Analysts (LPA's) Jillinda Chandler and Ericka Hill made an unannounced visit for the purpose of conducting a case management inspection. The LPA's met with the Site Supervisor for Felton State Preschool. There are two session available, morning 7:50am-10:50am and afternoon 12:00pm-3:00pm. We visited three preschool classrooms, two of which were in session during our visit.
The first classroom, 44A, had 15 children and 2 teachers present; 2:15 ratio. Second classroom, 47A, had 15 children and 3 teachers present; 3;15 ratio. The third classroom, 48B, no children were present, the classroom is used during the afternoon session, the room was inspected for safety compliance. Proper supervision was observed.
The parents boards, fire extinguisher, Pediatric CPR and First-aid certificates, and emergency plans for all classrooms were properly labeled and stored. Classroom menus and meals provided by the elementary school cafeteria. IMS plans were posted and procedures were followed. Children medications were properly labeled and stored. Classrooms were equipped with electronic sign in and out devices, parents or legal guardians used their legal signature (pin) when signing children in and out. Rosters were available, current, and updated. Carbon Monoxide, smoke detectors, and classroom phones were present. The classroom temperatures were set comfortably for the children. All chemicals and hazardous materials were safely stored, locked, and inaccessible to children. There were cubbies in each classroom for children belongings. Toilets and sinks were in working condition the restrooms were clean and supplied the necessary toileting essentials.
Upon inspecting the outside play area, the sinks and fountains were properly working and the storages were locked. The play area was fenced, contained an adequate shade area, cushioning was provided under climbing apparatus and in good repair, and the toys and equipment were safe and appropriate for preschool children to use. |
