Due to COVID- 19 precautionary measures were taken, licensing staff present during inspection wore appropriate personal protective equipment. LPA met with Principal, Emily Hooks who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. There were forty-six (46) children observed to be present at the facility during LPAs arrival.
During the walk-through of the facility on 08/10/22, LPA García observed that unqualified staff are supervising children. At 9:22 am during the inspection of room 1-111, LPA Garcia observed Staff #9 and Staff #10 providing care and supervision of seven (7) preschoolers. Interviews with Staff #7 reveal that sometimes there is staff shortages and therefore, aides are left to care for children. Staff #7 confirmed sometimes no qualified teacher covers while staff #7 is out of the classroom, this poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
Based on LPAs observation and interviews which were conducted, the following deficiency on the attached LIC 809 deficiency page is being cited in accordance with CA code of Regulations Title 22.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
