25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shandra Powell conducted an unannounced 1-Year Required Inspection. LPA met with Lynette Sawyer, Director who guided analysts on tour of facility. This is a preschool program which consists of 13 classrooms; Facility operation hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Census were taken. During initial start of inspection LPA observed 116 children in care with 10 teachers/staff and or assistants.
PHYSICAL PLANT: Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medication and other items that are dangerous to children, were inaccessible to children. No poisons were accessible to children Licensee understands that all poisons are required to be locked with a key or combination lock. Furniture and equipment are in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. All toilets and hand washing sinks are safe, sanitary and are operating properly. All floors are clean and safe. LPA advised Director to add a sensor on the east door that leads to a busy street outside of facility. The door is a exit and entrance door with a push bar and leads out to a very busy street. The door is located at the end of the hall on the bottom floor of the facility next to classrooms. Director agreed.
All kitchen areas/food preparation areas and food storage areas are kept clean and are free of litter, rubbish and rodents and/or any other vermin. LPA observed one dead roach inside cabinet where eating utensils are stored (photo taken). This poses a immediate health and safety risk to children in care All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins shall have tight-fitting covers that are kept on, and in good repair. Trash cans used to discard food have tight fitting lids. Drinking water is readily available both indoors and outdoors. The facility was observed to be free of flies, other insects and rodents. |
