32 | Kitchen was inspected. Food preparation and storage areas are kept clean, free from litter, rubbish and free from rodents and other vermin. Storage containers are labeled and no expired food observed.
Children and staff records are reviewed during the inspection. First Aid supplies and medications (locked in file cabinet) are kept in the front office. LPA observed a working smoke alarm and carbon monoxide located in main care area. Required postings were observed today, including the Facility License, Parents’ Rights Poster, Car Seat Laws and Emergency Disaster Plan LPA observed adequate toilets and sinks to accommodate the facility’s capacity.
Outdoor space was inspected today. Outdoor yard is accessed through back door of pre-school classroom. There is appropriate fencing around the perimeter of the outdoor play area. The surface of outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition and is free of hazards. All storage containers for solid waste, including moveable bins, have tight fitting covers that are kept on, and are in good repair. The outdoor space is cushioned with material that absorbs falls. The Administrator takes measures to keep the facility free of flies, other insects.
Administration:
Mandatory Forms for the children’s files and staff’s files, Requirements for disaster drills and documentation for both. Roles and responsibilities of being a mandated reporter were discussed. The licensee was advised how to access forms and Regulations for Family Child Care online at www.ccld.ca.gov. Licensee is made aware that it is their responsibility to know the regulations as well as anyone who assists in providing care. Licensee was advised on how to access quarterly reports, forms, and regulations for Child Care online at www.ccld.ca.gov. The licensee is advised that inaccessibility of hazards must be constantly reassessed depending on the children in care. Licensing must have the facility’s phone number at all times; if the phone number is changed, licensing must be notified. Regulation prohibits the smoking of tobacco on the premises.
